New product pictures of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL show the Google smartphones for the first time in high quality from both sides. Source of the images is like so often Evan Blass’ Twitter account. For the first time, the front of the smartphones can be seen with the display on. The new Launcher offers both devices, thin edges only the XL.
The new images show clearly the differences between Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL: not in the design of the back, but the display-to-front ratio. The cheaper of the two smartphones, the HTC-made pixel 2, has significantly thicker display edges than the LG-manufactured pixel 2 XL. The larger smartphone also offers rounded display corners, while those of pixel 2 taper.
Stereo speakers
Both new Google smartphones are clearly recognizable with stereo speakers on the front, which were still missing the first pixel generation last year. Also with the pixel 2 XL with narrow edges is still enough space for it.
Google moves search bar
Another common feature is the new Android Launcher, which pushes Google’s search bar down between the Android controls and the main app links. The fact that Google is working on a new Android launcher was first seen in May as part of the Google I / O 2017 developer conference, when it was already installed on a demonstrator. At this time, however, it was not yet known that the new Android launcher will not celebrate with the release of Android 8.0 Oreo (test), but first on the Pixel 2 smartphones premiere. It is not yet known whether the new Android launcher will be exclusively reserved for Google’s pixel smartphones, just like the release of Android 7.1 last year.
Show tomorrow from 17:45
Google will introduce the new smartphones tomorrow from 17:45 clock in the Livestream. The higher prices of the smartphones have been available since mid-September, when Droid-Life has published this together with further tomorrow’s expected Google novelties.
