Île-de-France Mobilités (ex STIF), has just announced the next evolution of the Navigo pass, the ticket used by millions of inhabitants every day to take public transport. Main novelty: it will be possible to use its smartphone, via its chip NFC, like a Navigo pass.
If you live in Paris or in the island of France, you certainly have a Navigo card. This violet and gray map makes it possible to take the train, the bus or the metro and to validate his ticket. And everyone has already forgotten it one day before leaving home. Good news, Ile-de-France Mobilités has finally decided to modernize it and especially to dematerialize it.
A Navigo pass in his smartphone by 2019
By 2019, “at the latest”, it will indeed be possible to use its smartphone to pass the checkpoints of public transport in the Ile-de-France region. If I believe the computer graphics published by the Twitter account of Île-de-France Mobilités, this validation will use the chip NFC smartphone (hope you have one) and the application Vianavigo. The latter will allow to reload its Navigo pass directly from the application, avoiding the long queues at the counters at the beginning of the month.
