AIM: AOL instant messenger after 20 years

The AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) was the first messenger application or experience for many users in the 90s and is therefore associated with a lot of nostalgic net feelings – however, most of the former users have already moved forward an eternity and are no longer using the AIM. Meanwhile the AIM has a full 20 years on the hump and more it is not: As AOL (the Engadget mother company) now announced, the AIM is stopped this year, more precisely on 15 December.
