Samsung was so convinced by its own language support solution Bixby that the Galaxy S8 as well as Note 8 have a hardware button, which is only there to start the service. Not a very good idea, as it turned out quickly. On the other hand, Bixby does not work so well yet, on the other hand, a random and unintentional pressing of the button from the workflow. Samsung has also quickly put a bar on its button assignment with other features. Now the button can simply be shut down.
An update of the Bixby app, which is currently distributed by Samsung, gives owners of the smartphones the possibility for the first time that the button is completely ignored when pressed. Samsung does not provide a reason for the decision; but it seems clear that the customer’s negative feedback is responding here. The question remains whether Samsung will implement or allow the button to be re-used with other functions in the medium term. It would be desirable.
