According to data released by Annie’s App , US users spent almost a billion hours watching YouTube videos with their Android devices last July.
This is a record for applications that offer streaming content and a confirmation that user habits are changing.
In the twelve months running from August 2016 to July 2017, the most popular Android streaming applications were watched over 12 billion hours of video and the only YouTube app can boast about 80% (9.5 billion hours ) of that tremendous result.
Also, according to Annie’s App, YouTube continues to grow faster than its closest competitors, and its advantage seems to be even bigger.
The YouTube app dominates the rankings as well as the number of active monthly users, always followed by Netflix.
Google’s platform, in essence, has all the rules in place to maintain its leadership position and the new products designed by the Mountain View giant for this industry (starting with YouTube Red and YouTube TV) could shake the streaming content market .
