ProtonMail launches its free VPN

Now is reality: everyone can finally access ProtonVPN, the free private network service that the Swiss company has opened to the public. We know the platform since last March, but for various issues it was not online, having to postpone the launch at the end of June. Set as a paid client, now the VPN is fully accessible even in free mode, with clear restrictions on the four paid plans. However, there is a considerable distinction in terms of competition: despite the opportunity to use VPN freely, ProtonMail does not make any available data traffic limit, focusing entirely on the protection of exchanged information and the absence of monitoring, both internally which by third-party agencies.

Subscribe is OK

Certainly subscribing to a canon has its advantages if the VPN is an essential tool in everyday life connected. With the free plan, for example, you can associate only one device to the profile, with the possibility of using only distributed servers in three countries. PronVPN Basic, Plus and Visionary also offer a scalar offer, with an incremental number of supported devices, higher connection speeds (in upload and download), and extra options such as the Secure Core and Top Server service. At this time ProtonVPN is only accessible via desktop but is based on the OpenVPN protocol, it is compatible with all the software that uses the standard, so also the iOS and Android apps already on the store.

ProtonMail was founded in 2013 by CERN and after a beta period it came to market in March. The goal is to offer a truly private and obscure email client to the eyes of the spies, including through integration with TOR and the implementation of two-factor verification as an additional privacy tool.
