Vodafone Gigabit offensive – The network operator Vodafone starts with a removal program under the name “Gigabit offensive”. The program is aimed at 13.7 million new gigabitics in the country.

Vodafone Gigabit offensive

In the next four years Vodafone wants to lead numerous customers towards Gigabit-Gesellschaft. The company has launched a billion-dollar expansion program called “Gigabit-Offensive” and wants to bring the fast data rates to one third of the population.

The expansion program is based on the three pillars GigaKabel, GigaGemeinde and GigaGewerbe and is intended to reach not only people, but also cities and municipalities as well as small and medium-sized businesses. The investment in gigabit rapid fiber connections in commercial areas and municipalities alone will cost Vodafone 2 billion euros.

Gigabit speeds for Germany

Vodafone explains:

With our mission “GigaKabel” we are upgrading our cable network – bringing gigabit speeds to 12.6 million households. With “GigaGemeinde” we are creating gigabitschnelle communities in cooperation with municipalities – and want to supply about two million people in rural areas with glass fiber connections. And with “GigaGewerbe” we will bring up to 100,000 companies in about 2,000 business parks to the glass fiber highway. With our offensive, we are investing in real Gigabit infrastructure and driving the gigabit company a step further – not only in the cities, but also in the countryside.

Already, 94 percent of all households can access speeds of 200 Mbps, while 55 percent already have 400 Mbps. Only recently has the network operator enabled speeds of up to 500 Mbps, these data rates are already bookable in 21 percent of households.
