Rockstar Games digs LA Noire: The six-year-old action adventure is ported to newer game consoles and receives a VR version. Already on 14 November 2017, players on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can again as a virtual detective in the Los Angeles of the 1940er years.
The fate of the fictional Cole Phelps is underway during his career at the Los Angeles Police Department. A special feature of the game is, in addition to the gloomy Noir look, which is oriented to films of the era, an attempt to depict feelings and thoughts by means of motion capturing with actors realistic about the mimicry of the protagonists and suspects. The title is attested to a dense atmosphere. On the other hand, there was less opposition in the press, the attempts to curb the amusing detective work in the search for evidence and the interrogation of suspects by means of action.
Improvements on consoles
On all three consoles, the game is delivered with all DLCs in the bundle. On the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Rockstar Games says the game is ” a variety of technical improvements, ” including ” optimized lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera settings [and] higher-resolution textures .” On the base consoles the game is calculated in 1080p, on the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X lets Rockstar render in UHD resolution.
In the switch version, Rockstar no longer speaks of graphical improvements. Instead, the game gets a ” Joy-Con mode with motion and gesture control, HD vibration “. In addition, ” new widescreen and shoulder camera shots” as well as a context-dependent touch control can be used.
Less work in VR
With LA Noire: The VR Case Files, seven ” selected cases ” from the main game with the HTC Vive can be solved in virtual reality. Rockstar has not yet spoken about playing time or further optimizations. However, the scenarios should have been revised for the VR environment: Players can view, manipulate and manipulate notes and make free-hand notes. In addition, players are allowed to steer, operate and serve as a platform for fire battles.
