A bug of Instagram has allowed some hacker to have access to the phone numbers of the contacts and the email addresses of some users of high-profile.
To report it was the same team of Instagram and, given that the announcement comes a few days after the publication of hot photos of Justin Bieber (stolen from the account of his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez), it seems it is just the same bug.
The developers have not revealed how many accounts actually affected, explaining that the problem is with the API that the service uses to communicate with other applications. In any case, the bug would have been fixed and the hackers would not have stolen any passwords (“No account passwords were exposed. We fixed the bug swiftly and are running a thorough investigation“).
Instagram has taken steps to warn potential victims of the problem, so as to enable them to take appropriate measures to avoid damages.
