The work on SteamLink for Samsung’s Smart TVs of the 2016 and 2017 series has been completed. With the appropriate app on the TV, PC players can now transfer compatible games to the TV without additional hardware such as the receiver of the same name (report).
The only requirement besides a compatible Smart TV is according to Samsung that the PC and the TV are in the same network. Afterwards the link-capable game on the PC as well as the app on the TV can be started and transferred. According to Samsung, Samsung is the first manufacturer to integrate SteamLink into its TVs. In addition, transmission in UHD resolution is also possible.
The following controllers are supported:
Xbox 360 wired and wireless
Xbox One wired
Logitech F510 / F710
According to the Steam community, the Xbox controllers can cause vibrations for short hangers.
Update 15:13 clock
In a first hands-on of the editorial team, SteamLink was successfully installed after a firmware update on a Samsung UE40KU6459U of the year 2016. The connection of a controller goes both via the dongle and directly on the television. Further impressions will be provided by the editors.
