Always On Display Tracks in AOSP Code: Incoming on Google Pixel 2017?

The Always On Display is a recent added feature introduced to the world of smartphones mainly from LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7. The latter makes the most of this mode thanks to its Super AMOLED display that optimizes black screens.

So far Always On Display has been a prerogative of the various OEMs, who have implemented it in their own Android customizations. Finally, Google could bring this comfortable mode to its smartphones – Pixels, by the way – as it has been talking for some time now.

Some members of the well-known XDA portal, industry experts, have decompiled as usual the SystemUIGoogle.apk file coming from third Android O developer preview and here it came out of ” tuner_doze_always_on “. References to the always active Envient Display screen are obvious, but colleagues have been unable to activate that feature in any way.

Big G could take advantage of the Super Pixel 2017 Super AMOLED display to offer the Always On Display exclusive to the two new smartphones, as was the case last year for other exclusive features of the first Pixels. We will keep you up to date as soon as you know more about it, meanwhile let us know with a comment below if you consider this feature essential to buying a smartphone.
