After music and books, Aldi is launching another media format on its online sales platform. With Aldi life Games, video games for PC, game consoles and Mac will be offered starting tomorrow.
In co-operation with Medion the discounter Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd are also trying to play games on the Internet. The offer is intended to cover titles of various genres for the platforms PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Mac “from more than 100 developer studios and games publishers”.
The game catalog is not yet accessible via the portal Aldi life aktuell. The companies announce the division, Watchdogs 2 and Anno 2205 to the start, however, and expect that “all PC games presented at gamescom will also be included in the catalog of ALDI life Games”. Screenshots also show Dirt 4, Guildwars 2 or Warframe, as well as pointing to the user interface. There will be game descriptions, screenshots and a rating system.
Purchasing is done online with Paypal or credit card as payment. In addition, it is possible to purchase credit balances in the markets of Aldi Nord and Aldi, which can be redeemed later online. After purchase, customers receive an online code to activate the game. Unlike other games like GAME, GOG, or the platforms of the publisher, Aldi will not offer the games themselves, but will only sell keys for other platforms.
