You’ve probably already heard of Speedtest, one of the most used applications to measure the speed of your internet connection. Application developers have recently launched Speedtest Global Index, a monthly ranking that allows users to see how different countries are based on connection speeds.
The ranking is made up of data that users generate when they use the service, and shows both mobile and fixed line speeds across the globe. SpeedTest will update the rankings every month, and you can see the upload and download speeds for each country, in addition to your placement history, to see if there are any improvements (or worries) in a month.
Certainly this is not the only service of this type, but it might be fun to see how the different countries will move month after month along the rankings. On Speedtest’s official blog, you can find the full list, but we’ll give you an anticipation: at the moment for mobile connections, Italy is in the 32rd position just after Serbia and just before Macedonia. Norway is on the lead, while on the podium are the Netherlands and Hungary.
