Research firm Kantar Worldpanel has produced a report on the spread of the major mobile operating systems for the quarter that ended last May. Looking at the study data, iOS had a strong growth in USA, Australia and Japan, while Android recorded the best results in Germany, the UK and France.
In Italy, iOS and Android grew 1.3% and 1.6% respectively , while Windows Mobile continues its inexorable decline. Android is the most popular operating system, reaching a market share of 82.6%.
According to the report, Samsung also regained its first US sales position in the quarter under review, with a market share rising from 32.9% to 36.2% thanks to the success of the Galaxy S8, however lower than expected by the company; As expected in the American market, Apple is well, which keeps 34%, but earns 4.7 percentage points from the previous year.
Apple and Samsung keep the top smartphone sales positions , but Huawei is growing strongly and has made an important contribution to Android’s growth in the five major European countries (Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Spain), all over the 79.5% of the market.
In this regard analysts predict that Huawei may surpass Apple in sales for the third quarter of this year : the company is enjoying great success with P10 and Mate 9, and the Honor series is also having positive feedback from the public. Probably Apple will recover ground in the last quarter of the year, thanks to the arrival of the expected iPhone 8.
