Galaxy S8 manufacturersGalaxy S8 Update Android 7.1 – Android O (8.0) is already available as a final preview version. But before Samsung updated its top smartphones accordingly, the manufacturer will first plan a larger update on Android 7.1. According to reports, Android 7.1 nougat is working for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

Galaxy S8 (Plus): Android 7.1 is in work

In the third quarter of this year, the successor of Android 7.0 nougat is expected. According to an official release plan is then to be expected with the final version of Android O.

Samsung plans first but an update to Android 7.1 for its current top models Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, is apparent from a report from AndroidGalaxys.net and a roadmap from Vodafone Australia.

Only little new features

Android 7.1 brings however rather few new features. The update is mainly intended to fix errors and ensure better system stability. Compared to Android 7.0, Android 7.1 will bring the new shortcuts. By a longer tap on an appropriate app icon opens a new menu. Users can use different open app options here. The Galaxy S8 already has such a menu, but specific actions are not available. For example, the new menu allows you to start route navigations via Google Maps and calendar appointments via the calendar app.

According to experience, it will take a few months until owners of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus can benefit from the update. Google will probably already provide Android 8.0 in the final version for its in-house models.
