A market research conducted by the Chinese company Risingsun has unveiled the ranking of smartphone manufacturers for number of global shipments relative to Q1 2017 : as one might expect, in the first place dominates Samsung, with 80 million units shipped. In second place are the competitor Apple (51 million units), while the third is positioned Huawei (35 million): the podium remained unchanged from the previous compilation.
More or less surprisingly the list is dominated by Chinese companies . Among the ten largest producers, well seven are companies located in China , and even three of them are located in the top five of the rankings: in addition to the aforementioned Huawei, we find OPPO and Vivo in fourth and fifth place on the list. Xiaomi, however, play the sixth with LG (both manufacturers amounted to around 15 million units). To close the standings, Lenovo in eighth place, and to follow ZTE and Gionee , respectively in the penultimate and last place.
And ‘interesting to compare these data with the list compiled for Q4 2016 : the total of the previous estimate shipments (439 million) has gone to total 351 million in Q1 2017, a well 88 million difference . However, compared to the same ranking relative to Q1 2016, growth is clear : the smartphone shipments increased by 5.4% from the same period last year.
