Galaxy J (2017): Samsung's new beginners cost 170 to 340 euros

Samsung has announced the equipment, pricing and launch dates of the new Galaxy-J smartphones. Galaxy J forms to Galaxy A and Galaxy S, the Samsung lowest of only three device classes. The assortment is now much clearer than a few years ago. The new Galaxy J will start at 169 euros.

Galaxy J5 (2017) is now available for 279 euros

The new Galaxy J (2017) is the entry into the smartphone range of Samsung. The top model Galaxy J7 will be available from mid-July exclusively as a dual SIM device (Duos) at a non-binding price of 339 euros in the colors black, gold and blue.

The Galaxy J5 starts well a month earlier and is now available at a non-committal price of 279 euros in German retail. Here, buyers will have the choice between a single and a dual SIM variant. This also applies to the Galaxy J3, whose suggested retail price is 169 euros. Color selection and Android version (7.0) of Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J3 agrees with that of the Galaxy J7.

Exynos SoCs from 14nm manufacturing

All models combine Exynos processors from efficient 14nm production. The Galaxy J3, however, uses a weaker variant with only four cores and slower GPU. In memory, only the Galaxy J7 offers three gigabytes.

The display diagonals range from 5.5 to 5.2 to 5.0 inches, the resolutions from Full HD to HD. The two more expensive models Samsung OLED displays, the small Galaxy J3 must do with a simple TFT panel. In this device, Samsung also saves on the cameras, because the screens are lighter and the resolution of the front camera has been reduced from 13 to 5 megapixels.
