Unicode Consortium, the non-profit organization that coordinates the development of the Unicode standard, unveiled Unicode 10.0, the new standard that will allow the creation, among other things, of new emoji. The new standard now also includes the Bitcoin symbol, considered as a normal character and not an emoji.
With the new code points, 56 in total, 239 new emoji were added in Emoji 5.0. In addition to those introduced by the new standard will be added another 183 emoji based on the variants of the genre and the shades of the skin. In the image below you can see the new emoji, some of which have been anticipated by Google with the recent Android O Developer Preview.
In addition to three new flags, England, Scotland and Wales, we find new animals such as zebra, giraffe, porcupine and dinosaurs, new foods such as broccoli or pretzel, coconut and sandwiches, Chinese food and new characters. We will have the opportunity to include in our conversations emoji wizards and fairies, lamp genes, tritones and sirens, zombies and vampires, as well as some new smileys to express new feelings. In the coming months we should therefore see the new emoji in the most common applications and operating systems.
