Android 2.1 Eclair: Google provides support for the Android Market

Google ended the 30th of June support of the Android Market from the Android version 2.1 and older. Affected devices can not access or install apps from the Android Market as of the deadline. Due to technical limitations of the market, the shutdown will be done without notice to the user.

Android Market is the predecessor of Google Play, which can be used from the Android version 2.2 Froyo. That Android 2.1 Eclair and older from 30 June are no longer supported is, according to recent Google figures, no dramatic cut for the users. Google takes operating systems from its statistics as soon as they are installed on less than 0.1 percent of the devices. Eclair has not been listed by Google for some time, 2.2 Froyo has not been in the statistics since January.
