OnePlus has presented the 5 with dual camera and new design. With a starting price of 499 euros, the OnePlus 5 is the most expensive smartphone ever presented by the company. The model with more memory costs even 559 euros. In return, however, there is also a top equipment, which can be seen.
The OnePlus 5 offers a top level for the manufacturer in terms of hardware. This extends from the Snapdragon 835 (test) over 6 gigabytes of memory up to 64 gigabytes of flash memory in the standard version of the smartphone for 499 euros. From the 27th of June, OnePlus wants to sell the 5 in Germany via direct sales via their own website, the smartphone can already be pre-ordered. Anyone who invests 559 euros can add memory and flash memory to 8 gigabytes or 128 gigabytes. OnePlus emphasizes that it is always in the UFS-2.1 memory.

After the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T (Test) have used the same design and only the hardware inside has been upgraded, the OnePlus 5 is again set to a completely new aluminum case whose design is quite similar to the iPhone 7 Plus (test). In addition to the cut-out for the camera, even the progression of the antenna strips looks similar to Apple’s smartphone. The fingerprint sensor sits as before on the front of the smartphone below the 5.5-inch AMOLED display with full-HD resolution and Gorilla Glass 5.
The camera of the 5 puts OnePlus into the focus of the smartphone for this year’s presentation. With the dual lens, OnePlus goes a similar way as Apple, because beside a wide angle there is also a telephoto lens. This can be used on the one hand for a loss-free zoom, but on the other hand, gadgets such as portrait photos with bokeh are also possible. OnePlus uses a 16 megapixel sensor with f / 1.7 aperture as the main camera and a 20 megapixel and f / 2.6 aperture as a secondary camera. Due to the size of only 1.0 micrometer, it might be interesting to see what quality the second camera produces. The optical image stabilizer of the OnePlus 3T has not made it into the new generation. As is common for many Chinese manufacturers, the front camera comes with an unusually high resolution of 16 megapixels and f / 2.0 aperture.
Charge slightly smaller battery with up to 20 Watts
The battery of the OnePlus 5 has now marginally reduced the manufacturer with 3.300 mAh compared to the OnePlus 3T (3,400 mAh), but the more efficient Snapdragon 835 from 10-nanometer-manufactured by Samsung is likely to counteract this fact easily. OnePlus’s own fast charging system is called Dash Charge again and allows charging up to 20 watts (5 V / 4 A). The smartphone is loaded with a USB-type C socket, which transmits data via a 2.0 protocol. The headphone jack has not painted OnePlus, it sits next to the USB interface at the bottom.
From 27 June for 499 and 559 euros
OnePlus will offer the 5 on June 27 in black and gray. The recommended retail price is 499 Euro (6/64 GB) and 559 Euro (8/128 GB). On the device runs with OxygenOS again a stick-like version of Android, in this case Android 7.1.1 nougat (test). From OnePlus 5, there will be only one global version with support for 35 LTE bands.
