The Wearable Hype-Train has become such a small bit snapped – at least it a little so, if you look at the current coverage in the tech media. The topic of VR is currently more exciting, but this does not mean that smartwatches, fitness tracker, etc. do not have absolutely their life authority.
Especially in the respective niches this works very well, and as an argument can also hold the Trekstor Smartagent, which is now officially presented. This is a very robust Smartwatch, which is not intended for the normal user, but is addressed to companies.
Thus, it is possible to implement assignments in logistics or, in general, in industrial plants. The design also tells you directly that you have focused more on stability and functionality in the production than on the look of the gadget.
Trekstor, of course, clarifies this in his press release and mentions both the advantages of the clock as well as possible locations:
Particularly when working in gastronomy, health care or logistics, everyday convenience is an important plus. This is underlined by the great durability. The wearable is resistant to extreme temperatures (from -20 ° to + 60 ° C) and also against humidity, dust and a short submerge up to a maximum of 1 meter water depth, the aluminum housing is resistant thanks to IP67 protection class. The robust silicone bracelet is available in different colors. Alternatively, the SMARTAGENT can also be used in a silicone case for hanging. This makes it a multifunctional communication interface – whether in the cold store, on the construction site or in the kitchen.
Windows 10 on board
Smartwatches are, of course, now like sand on the sea, but this can be quite different from many others – by the operating system. Windows 10 IoT is preinstalled here and not Android Wear, Tizen or a very own solution. Users benefit from the fact that different user profiles can be created and Universal Apps can be used, and the in-house Azure cloud computing platform is optimally supported.
But not only with the operating system you want to score points, but also with the built-in technology: a Qualcomm Snapdragon is on board, or more precisely, the Snapdragon 212, whose four cores at 1.3 GHz clock. The most important specs at a glance:
- 1.54 inch display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, protected by gorilla glass 3
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad-core SoC at 1.3 GHz
- 1 GB of RAM
- 8 GB of internal memory
- Windows 10 IoT
- 5 MP camera
- Battery: 430 mAh
- Dual band WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
- Dust and splash proof (certified to IP 67)
- Measurements: 47 x 44 x 12
- 60 grams weight
According to Trekstor, the 320 x 320 pixel touch screen display will also be able to be used with gloves, which again underlines the company’s focus on the device. Companies, which can imagine to equip their employees with the Trekstor Smartagent, can do this from the third quarter of this year. As Trekstor says, the Wearable will then be available for an EIA of 200 euros for the B2B area. In addition, interested parties can personally examine the Smartwatch at the HITEC in Toronto, where Trekstor will issue the Smartagent from June 26-29, 2017.
