Last launch rocket “Rokot” will be implemented in the first quarter of next year, what informs Enterprise “State Research and Production Space Center Khrunichev” (FSUE “Khrunichev Khrunichev”).
The rocket “Rokot” light class created on the basis of two-stage ballistic missile RS-18, and is designed to launch satellites weighing up to two tons into low Earth orbit. “Rokot” consists of three stages. The first two stages are a flow accelerators RS-18 strategic missile (SS-19). The third stage is used as the upper stage “Breeze KM”.
The first demonstration and commercial launch of “Rokot” from the Plesetsk launch facility in two simulators Iridium took place in 2000, and in 2002 in the framework of the international space program conversion support brought two GRACE satellites into orbit.
During the period from 2000 to the present time from the cosmodrome Plesetsk 26 launches of the missile was carried out, which resulted in more than 60 satellites for various purposes has been put into orbit.
It is reported that the next launch of a European satellite Sentinel-5P is scheduled for September this year. The final program for commercial launch planned for the first quarter of 2018: the rocket will bring the satellite into space Sentinel-3B.
