Update: No Android 7.0 for the OnePlus 2

Update: Kein Android 7.0 für das OnePlus 2

The OnePlus 2 (test) will not receive an update on Android 7.0 nougat. This is confirmed by the Chinese manufacturer OnePlus in a conversation with Android Authority. The smartphone was introduced at the end of July 2015, not even two years ago.

When the OnePlus 2 came onto the market, it ran with a version of the in-house OxygenOS based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. An update on Android 6.0 Marshmallow donated OnePlus last year. The update on Android nougat was actually also promised. Google released the version in August 2016 – one year after the OnePlus 2 appeared. So the OnePlus 2 received only a big update. The successor OnePlus 3 as well as the revision 3T (test) received Android 7.0 at the turn of the year.

For some time now, OnePlus has informed customers that the update will not be available, the company told Android Authority. When asked why onePlus 2 does not get nougat, OnePlus is evasive: “When we built OnePlus 2, we did not have the software infrastructure team that we now have.”

The latest smartphone, the OnePlus 5, will present the company on June 20th.
