Render images are supposed to show the design of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 expected for September. For the front, the South Korean company chooses an almost frameless display, similar to the Galaxy S8 (test). In contrast to the current flagship, the fingerprint sensor on the back is missing.
6.3 inch display with optical fingerprint sensor
According to recent reports, Samsung is targeting a larger display than the predecessors that have been taken from the market because of fire hazards. The Galaxy Note 8 is to put on a virtually frameless Super AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.3 inches and a side ratio of 18.5: 9. For comparison, the Galaxy Note 7 offered 5.7 inches.
Above the display area, there are hardly any details on the rendering. Samsung, according to reports, except for a front camera again an iris scanner, whose sensors were optimized for better recognition. There will be a premiere with regard to the fingerprint scanner. Instead of laying the input field on the back because of the missing homebuttons – as with the Galaxy S8 – Samsung is planning for the new Note 8 an optical fingerprint sensor directly on the display.
Vertical dual camera and headphone jack
The back of the render image shows a vertically built-in dual camera including a dual-LED flash. The underside of Note 8 is reminiscent of the Galaxy S8. The USB type C connector is located in the center, and the headphone jack on the left. On the right is the loudspeaker. The only difference to the S8 is the opening for the S Pen, which is compulsory for Samsung’s touch devices.
Regarding the charging functions, note 8 will probably provide both fast charging and wireless charging. Thanks to IP68 certification, the upcoming flagship smartphone is dust and waterproof.
Snapdragon 835 and 6 gigabytes of memory
At the SoC, Samsung is likely to rely on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 (test). However, this will probably only apply to the US again, because in Europe and Asia, at least the Galaxy S8 uses Exynos 8895 processors. In addition, the device should have 6 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of memory, which can be extended via microSD card.
Android 7.1.1 inklusive Bixby
Samsung is testing the Galaxy Note 8 according to a report from the Netherlands with Android Nougat 7.1.1. It is not yet sure whether this is also Android version, with which the smartphone comes on the market. Just like the Galaxy S8, Samsung’s software assistant Bixby is supposed to be on board. On the assists, however, customers from the USA and Europe are still waiting, only in Korea is Bixby on the S8 already running.
The presentation of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected for the IFA in September.
