Samsung is developing alternative Snapdragon 660

In the middle of last month, we have already talked about the prepared six-core Samsung Exynos 7872 mobile processor for mid-level smartphones. However, as it turned out, is not the only chip devices for this segment, which is the South Korean electronics giant is represented in the current year. According to network sources, currently the company’s engineers are working on another solution that is designed for a relatively inexpensive gadgets and, most likely, will be positioned as a competitor Qualcomm Snapdragon 660.

 

 

According to informants, a new, not yet announced the “system-on-chip” called the Exynos 9610 and comprises eight core CPU – four Cortex-A73 and the same number of Cortex-A53. For graphics processing chip meets the accelerator Mali-G72 MP3, and its communication capabilities are determined by the integrated LTE-modem Netcom, supporting Cat. 12/13, which corresponds to the recoil velocity downloading and data 600 and 150 Mbit/s, respectively. Exynos 9610 will be performed by the 14-nm process LPP.

Official information about the new product yet, therefore the timing of its announcement and remain questionable. However, sources believe that the Exynos 9610 can be presented by Samsung in the fourth quarter of this year. Around the same time we should expect and the first smartphones based on this chip.
