Borderless Screen, Modularity and Snapdragon 835: The Essential Phone strikes very loudly

Essential is a US box founded by former Android. Today, the company introduces its first smartphone: the Essential Phone. A smartphone presented by Andy Rubin that is revolutionary.

An impressive display almost without borders

The first thing that strikes in this Essential Phone, it is the screen almost no border. A screen reminiscent of the Xiaomi Mi Mix, tested in our columns a few weeks ago. Nevertheless, Essential has cunning on the front camera, making him bite the screen. The result ? A screen without edge, that does not penalize the other components of the terminal.

This screen (LTPS LCD, a display type that is found on current iPhone or Honor 8) is 5.7 inches diagonally and has a qHD resolution (2560 × 1312 pixels). It is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5. The whole is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of memory, a dual sensor 13 MP and a battery of 3040 mAh. The whole weighs 185 grams with dimensions of 141 x 71 x 7.8 mm.

A ceramic shell and titanium wafers

In addition to wanting solid with a ceramic shell and titanium Tench, the Essential Phone setting a particular aspect: it is scalable. Indeed, two magnetic connectors are present on the back and they used to hang a bunch of devices. One idea that has already seen Lenovo and its ambitious Z Moto Moto Mods and modules. One can imagine a lot of application, such as an additional battery, more power … for now, Essential has scheduled two uses: a 360-degree camera and a wireless charger. Last point on this Essential, it features a USB Type-C, but not Jack port.

A smartphone that will be available (no specific release date has been given) in four colors (black, gray, white and khaki) for $ 750 … the United States. As for the European poor we are, no release date has yet been disclosed. Patience, therefore.
