Starship Technologies , a robotics company created by the founder of Skype, which specializes in the manufacture of standalone robots designed to deliver products locally, announces the launch of a pizza delivery program in collaboration with Domino’s Pizza . Domino’s will deploy this project as part of its Domino’s Robotic Unit (DRU) program, which uses robots and drones to deliver its pizzas.
Initially, Starship’s robots will deliver pizzas within a 1.5-kilometer radius around Domino’s outlets in some cities in Germany and the Netherlands. Starship Technologies robots have six wheels and are completely autonomous thanks to their 9 cameras 360 degrees and automatic braking at 30 cm distance.
Starship Technologies recently raised € 16.5 million from Mercedes-Benz Vans to accelerate the development of pilot programs in Europe and the United States.
