In addition to the BlackBerry KeyOne, TCL also shows smartphones for the Alcatel brand. However, the A5 LED is not designed with technical data, but with an illuminated back panel with several LEDs and additional modules. The equipment, however, is lower middle class.
Back provides light
The main feature of the A5 LED is the detachable back. This has an arrangement of 4 × 9 LEDs integrated. Controlled by an app installed on the smartphone, the back can be used as a notification, but can also display a light show to match the music or to your own taste.
The connection is made via contacts, which also enable the use of other backs with additional functions. These include a back panel with an additional built-in rechargeable battery, and one with a loudspeaker. The idea and the implementation is reminiscent of the Moto Mods from Lenovo Moto Z.
The MediaTek MT6753 with eight Cortex A53 cores and a maximum of 1.5 gigahertz clock frequency with 2 GB of working and 16 GB of user memory are used as system-on-a-chip. The 5.2-inch display resolves at 720 × 1,280 pixels. The target group of the A5 LED should be especially young people, the price for the smartphone is 199 euros. The A5 LED will be released in March as a single and dual SIM version, the cover is included.
