Since the end of last year, the Chinese company TCL Communication has been taking care of BlackBerry smartphones under license. With the new KeyOne, the company presented the first model for this year for the MWC 2017 – two more will follow.
That said Nicolas Zibell, CEO of TCL Communication, in an interview. Even though the KeyOne is the last smartphone developed by BlackBerry Limited, TCL takes care of marketing and sales as a BlackBerry mobile. The new model with keyboard will appear in April, for the rest of the year two more models in the line.
New models without keyboard
According to statements from non-mentioned sources against CNET , these are devices without a keyboard, which are practically the succession of the DTEK50 and the recently shown top model DTEK60. At the same time, TCL should separate from the DTEK name schema, which is derived from a preinstalled security application from BlackBerry Limited.
Nokia is also under license
Another pioneer of the smartphone industry is also returning under license: the Nokia-based company HMD Global is concerned in this case with the marketing, development and sale of smartphones and feature phones under the name of the Finnish manufacturer. At the MWC 2017 HMD showed the models 3 and 5 as well as a new edition of the classic 3310.
