P10 (Plus): Huawei confirms different memory generations

Huawei responds to reports from the Asian region, where the P10 (Plus) may have different storage types for RAM and ROM depending on the batch. Compared to Android Authority, Huawei confirms that besides LPDDR4 also LPDDR3 for the RAM and besides UFS 2.1 UFS 2.0 and eMMC 5.1 for the internal memory are installed.

Users from the Asian region had noticed very different readings in memory benchmarks like Androbench, which ComputerBase also used for testing the internal memory of smartphones and tablets. There were also discrepancies between different devices in the RAM assembly, which suggested the use of different LPDDR generations.

Compared to the Android Authority , Huawei has now confirmed that the Huawei P10 (test) does not have the same memory for RAM and ROM. Above all, the older eMMC memory achieves much lower performance than UFS 2.1 or UFS 2.0. Memory never explicitly advertised

Huawei justified the different storage equipment with the high demand for the device. In the industry it is customary to buy components from several suppliers in order to avoid bottlenecks in production. The performance of a smartphone can not be attached to a single component, says the statement. In addition, Huawei states that the P10 has never been advertised with a specific type of memory. Which components in which device are plugged in are random and depend on the storage product in stock. A manual selection of memory chips does not take place, assured Huawei.

In fact, the Huawei P10 does not explicitly advertise with the use of LPDDR4 memory or UFS 2.1. Unlike the Huawei Mate 9 (test): In the detailed description of the speed of the smartphone, the Kirin-960-SoC also clearly the LPDDR4 memory and the internal memory based on UFS 2.1.
