Galaxy S9 and Co Snapdragon 845 – Smartphone manufacturers are striving to integrate the latest hardware into their top models. The goal is to make the smartphone faster than it can competitors. The Galaxy S9 and other high-end devices from other manufacturers will probably use the Snapdragon 845 processor.
Tests started with Snapdragon 845
A powerful chipset is essential for fast performance of any smartphone. In current smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor ensures fast performance. The SoC was the first to be produced in the 10-nm FinFET process and also saved up to 40 percent of electricity. For smartphones with XXL display an important criterion.
Meanwhile, the chip maker is already working on the successor, Snapdragon 845. Initial tests have already begun, among others, according to the website Androidheadlines.
Faster and more efficient: Snapdragon 845
Still, there is no official statement from the chip maker to the Snapdragon 845 processor. However, the manufacturer’s website is already showing first references to the new high-end chip. On the website, tools for developers of smartphones are listed and a platform called SDM845 mentioned, reports Winfuture.
The fact that the upcoming Snapdragon 845 chip will bring more power is clear in itself. It is to be produced in the 7nm process and 25 to 35 per cent more power compared to its predecessor, but still more energy-efficient. According to the report, TSMC has already begun testing production. For the mass market, the Snapdragon 845 could be available at the beginning of 2018. Samsung manufactures the Snapdragon 835 and had secured the privilege to be the first manufacturer in the Galaxy S8 to use the processor. Possibly again Samsung with the Galaxy S9 is the first manufacturer, which will use the new processor. Samsung, MediaTek and Huawei are already working on comparable chipsets from their own home.
